Training for Councillors (England and Wales)
Briefings on specific aspects of planning
We are able to conduct training sessions for Councillors on specific aspects of planning. These workshops can normally be delivered as a full or half-day session and can be combined in various ways to make up a day programme, sometimes with modules running in parallel.
Topics include specialist aspects of planning and updates on policy, procedure and good practice.

- the Development Plan Framework

- trees and the planning process (NEW)
- an update on planning policies, PPG & PPS changes etc
- PPS3 and housing (local and/or strategic issues)
- PPS7 - sustainable development in the countryside
- PPG13 and planning for transport
- telecommunications
- sustainability and its link to the planning framework
- planning for minerals and waste: an introduction
- design considerations and the principles of urban design
- conservation areas/listed buildings
- planning for wind farms
- communication skills and/or working in partnership
- handling the media.
We are also happy to consider developing bespoke session on other topics to suit the requirements of a particular authority.
