Key Principles of Planning and Enforcement
Key Principles of Planning and Enforcement is an excellent introduction to enforcement, suited to staff new to enforcement, whether qualified or not, who need to learn quickly in order to get on with the job. It is useful to established enforcement staff who may not previously have had much specific training, giving them a good framework for their practical experience. It is a valuable, though not essential, foundation for other modules.
The module inculdes:
- the evolution of the modern town planning system
- key elements of the current planning process and awareness of proposed changes
- the role of enforcement in the planning process
- the definition of development and the concept of permitted development
- key elements of primary and secondary legislation relevant to enforcement
- organisation for effective enforcement action
- ways of making enforcement more effective
- stakeholders in planning and the enforcement process.
The module includes attendance at two separate two-day tutorial sessions at Madingley Hall, Cambridge, and succesful completion of assessed practical project work.
The dates of the next two Tutorial sessions are given below. After this, the module will run again on 8 - 9 October & 25 - 26 November 2013.
