Effective meetings
Meetings of all sorts make up a large proportion of the working life of planning, development and regeneration specialists. They are often confusing, ineffective and a clear waste of a lot of people's time. This workshop will transform them. It is concerned with briefings, problem solving meetings, project team meetings, staff and management team meetings, and working in groups etc. It does not cover public meetings, political group meetings, formal local authority or committee meetings, all of which involve different or specialist approaches.
It looks at types of meetings; structuring meetings; advantages and disadvantages of meetings; agendas and minutes; mechanics of meetings; key skills of chairing and participating in meetings.
It aims to:
- improve the co-ordination and "mechanics" of meetings and develop skills involved in managing and participating in meetings, including awareness of the human dynamics involved
- develop an understanding of how to improve the way groups of people work
- provide techniques designed to make meetings more efficient, more effective, more decisive and more creative.
This workshop will revolutionise the impact of meetings on effectiveness and staff commitment.
