Performance management
"Performance management" is the general term covering the aspects of management emphasising specified indicators, standards, targets etc and the monitoring of results in relation to these. It is usually built into corporate management structures. This workshop reviews the approach, techniques involved, different types of indicator and target, effective progress monitoring, how to ensure that there are effective linkages between departmental performance and corporate performance, and building performance consciousness into the organisation generally.
Specific aspects covered include:
- defining the task and devising a framework
- performance management – system or culture?
- organisational objectives and putting performance management into context – using participants’ own examples
- creating a performance management system
- overcoming performance management difficulties; defining barriers to success
- measuring and reviewing performance, including a practical session on performance measurement
- principles of a balanced performance approach
- creating a performance culture.
