The procurement and management of consultants
Staff in planning, regeneration and development departments are often required to commission consultants for specialist work and projects. They are rarely trained in this specialist task, which - if it goes wrong - can be very awkward and expensive to rectify. This workshop provides practical assistance in understanding the procurement process and the available options for engaging consultants. It covers:
- construction of a clear and effective brief
- how to select and appoint the best consultants
- specialist aspects of payment, insurance etc
- how to manage contracts/relationships in order to obtain a timely and value for money outcome for the authority.
