Personal and organisational effectiveness in the planning and development field

This module covers very practical and applicable concepts/techniques of personal effectiveness (ie managing oneself). Previous participants have found these extremely helpful in often pressurised jobs. This is combined with a structured assessment of deeper issues linked to organisational effectiveness. This enables participants to assist their organisations improve structures, procedures and resource allocation to meet their key priorities, often challenging traditional ways of doing things, an approach encouraged by the "best value" regime.

Economy, efficiency and effectiveness are central concepts, considered at both an individual and an organisational level. In order for individuals to operate properly, organisational systems have to be analysed, questioned and modified in a constructive, consistent and informed manner.

As well as being very useful in itself, this module integrates with material covered during others in the programme.

The module includes attendance at two separate two-day tutorial sessions at Madingley Hall, Cambridge, and successful completion of assessed practical project work. The dates of the two Tutorial sessions are given below.
