Training for Councillors involved in Planning - inter-authority roadshow

Demand for TRA training for Councillors is always particularly high in the post-election period. Traditionally, our Councillor training has only been available on an in-house basis for individual authorities, but this year we have also organised an inter-authority roadshow which will be visiting a number of venues across England during June and July.

Although the timing of these workshops means that they will be particularly attractive to new members of Planning/DC/DM Committees, attendance is by no means restricted and any Councillor with an interest or involvement in planning can attend.

The workshop on offer is one of our most popular one-day sessions: The Role of Councillors in Planning: propriety and good practice.  Councillors are likely to get the most out of this workshop once they have attended a couple of Committee meetings and have a basic idea of what is involved. (However, the timing is not crucial if it does not fit in with your circumstances - our presenters are accustomed to dealing with groups of varying experience.)

Running these sessions on an inter-authority basis provides an ideal opportunity for those for whom in-house training is either not available or not appropriate, including:

NB. If you do have a larger number of Councillors requiring training, then an in-house workshop is likely to be more appropriate/cost effective. In addition to this workshop on the Role of Councillors, our other popular workshop 'A Briefing on Planning for Councillors' is also available on an in-house basis, and is ideal for new Councillors recently joining the Committee.
