The venue is slightly closer to Piccadilly Station, but is roughly halfway between Piccadilly and Oxford Road Stations, about a ten minute walk from Oxford Road and 5 minutes from Picadilly.
Piccadilly Station: After leaving your train, get into the main concourse and head for the escalators to the left of the concourse, follow the signs (marked taxis/Fairfield Street). Go down the escalator and out through the small, side exit to the corner of Fairfield and London Streets. Turn right and cross London Road, then Fairfield Street to The Bulls Head pub. Walk down London Road and turn right immediately after the railway viaduct onto Altrincham Street. You will soon see the Barnes Wallis Building and Staff House on your left. If you are staying at the Days Hotel, continue on a little further, then turn left at the Security Lodge. Days Hotel will be on your right.
Oxford Road Station: At the bottom of the station approach, cross over Oxford Road and turn right into Whitworth Street(to the right of the Palace Theatre). At the second set of traffic lights, turn right into Sackville Street. Days Hotel is on the right-hand side of the street, just past Charles Street. Staff House is on the left, across the road from Days Hotel. You walk across the paved area, past the lawn, and the building facing you is Staff House.
Victoria Station: Take the Metrolink to Piccadilly Station and follow directions from Piccadilly Station
Road Travel Directions
From the North via the M6 M61:
Follow STRETFORD signs into M60. Leave at exit 12 and join M602 SALFORD. At end of motorway, follow A57 MANCHESTER sign (Regent Road) for approx one mile. Proceed under the railway bridge continuing into A57M (Mancunian Way). Continue on A57M, take second exit , immediately fork right onto slip road into Sackville street. Following UNIVERSITY sign, turn left at the Retro Bar into Charles Street and the NCP carpark.
From Yorkshire via M62/M60:
Leave at Exit 17 signed Mcr CITY CENTRE and follow A56 towards Manchester for 4 miles (Bury New Road, becoming Gt. Ducie Street). Enter city under railway bridge (Victoria Street) and keep straight ahead still on A56, into Deansgate. In half a mile, after passing Kendal's Store, left at traffic lights (signed UNIVERSITIES) into John Dalton Street and straight ahead at next lights into Princess Street. In half a mile pass under the railway bridge and immediately turn left at lights into Charles Street for carpark.
From Derbyshire via A6:
Follow A6 sign towards Manchester City Centre until reaching the fly-over junction with A57M. Continue on A6 and in 200 yds pass under the railway bridge and turn left at the traffic lights into Fairfield Street. Turn left at next traffic lights into Sackville Street, pass under the railway bridge and turn right into Charles street for carpark.
From The Potteries via A34:
Follow signs for Manchester through Congleton. 3/4 mile through Alderley Edge, take a second exit at roundabout still following A34. In 7 miles, pass over M60 and after 3 miles, at roundabout, take the second exit following LONGSIGHT signs (Ignore the A34 for the city centre, which takes the first exit and passes under the railway). In one mile merge with A6 and follow this road towards the city centre as for from Derbyshire.
From the South and Midlands via M6:
Leave at exit 19 and follow A556 MANCHESTER for 4 miles. Join M56 MANCHESTER at roundabout and follow to end as for from north Wales and Chester.
From North Wales and Chester via M56:
Follow MANCHESTER signs, past Manchester Airport to end of M56 motorway and keep straight ahead into A5103 MANCHESTER for 4 miles. On reaching roundabout beneath overhead road, take third exit following A57M SHEFFIELD signs to next roundabout then second exit up the ramp to join A57M. Keep to near side lane for 200 yds and leave at next exit signed UNIVERSITY . Immediately fork right on slip road following UNIVERSITY sign. Turn left at the Retro Bar into Charles Street for the carpark.
From Merseyside via M62:
Leave at exit 12 and join M602 MANCHESTER . At end of this motorway follow A57 MANCHESTER. Keep to near side lane for 200 yds and leave at next exit. Immediately fork right on slip road following UNIVERSITY OF MANCHESTER sign. The car park is the first turn on the left.
Parking Information
There is a multi-storey carpark in Charles Street, just around the corner from the venue. After leaving the carpark, turn left down Charles Street, then right into Sackville Street. Days Hotel is on your right. Cross Sackville Street, and walk across the paved area. The building in front of you is Staff House. The charges are: £8 for up to 10 hours, and £10 for up to 24 hours. The pay machine in the carpark does not give change for notes, so make sure you have enough coins with you.
Arrival Instructions
There will be notices on the glass doors of Staff House telling you which floor the workshop will be on. Go into the entrance and up the stairs. Our receptionist will have a table on the second floor landing.
